Animal Shelter

The Fairfield Bay Animal Shelter is operated by the Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League, P. O. Box 1460, Fairfield Bay, AR 72088.  The purpose of the Animal Protection League (APL) is to prevent animal cruelty by promoting enforcement of animal cruelty laws, humane education, and by maintaining our local Animal Shelter as a temporary refuge for lost, abandoned and unwanted cats and dogs from within the Fairfield Bay community.

The Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League was founded in 1994 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The Animal Shelter was built as the APL successfully partnered with the City of Fairfield Bay. While there is a permanent small paid staff, we still depend on volunteers and donations to keep the Shelter fully operational.

The Animal Shelter – 884-6417 – is open 7 days a week (including holidays) – from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

You Can Help by Volunteering to:

• Serve on the Board of Directors of the APL
• Walk Dogs – Groom Cats and Dogs
• Help socialize the Animals
• Transport Animals to and from Local Vet Clinics
• Perform General Office Duties
• Do Laundry
• General Cleaning – Indoors

Adoptions:

When adopting a cat or kitten, or a dog or puppy from our Shelter, the animal will have been neutered or spayed, vaccinated against rabies, and we now test our adult dogs for heartworm –

Please note that FFB residents must obtain a city license for their dogs and/or cats from the City Offices. The City also promotes a reduced-fee spay or neuter program for Fairfield Bay pet owners. Please contact Program Director Peggy Camper at 884-4167.
